Monday 16th: On our way to northern New Mexico

After a long and tiring trip, the Ronda Los Carrozas from Cifuentes (Guadalajara, Spain) arrived at Albuquerque airport (Sunport) late at night on Sunday 15th of December. Early next morning, we were already packing luggage and instruments towards our first destinations in northern New Mexico.

The two large, 15-seats vans we rented from Enterprise were crucial for the tour.

The vans were big enough to each fit 8 singers with their luggage and instruments.

Every upload meant some spatial analysis to fit it all...

As mentioned in previous entries to this blog, the zambombas required special care and affection. We depend on them for our traditional songs! So, during each trip, the three larger zambombas were safely tightened to the seat with their respective personal belt like any other member of the ronda!!

The Sandia Mountains followed us to the right on our way to Santa Fe.

After installing ourselves at the Sage Inn in Santa Fe, we had a quick lunch at a nearby supermarket. This is something not frequently done in Spain, but which resulted interesting and enjoyable for most of us, even if we were not allowed to drink the beer we had just bought...

Marisol and Santiago enjoying the fast food with the rest of the group.

On our drive up to Taos, the weather got colder as we approached the mountains.

We spent the afternoon and evening of that Monday 16th visiting both the old Pueblo de Taos and the central older part of Taos.

Our first surprise was with the expensive price required to visit Taos Pueblo.

Some World Heritage Sites have free access for the public, but this was not the case.

The cemetry and ruins of the former church.

The central stacked buildings of the old town are truly something unique.

Our first cultural tourist experience in the USA was really worth it.

That night we had the opportunity to sing at the bar of the Sage Inn, invited by the couple of pop-folk singers that was performing there. We are still looking for any of the photos and videos that the public took of us, as this was our first performance in the USA!!
